Dr. Ackroyd completed medical school at the University of Rochester. She then completed residency in Philadelphia at Temple University Hospital. She completed gynecologic oncology fellowship at the University of Chicago. She performs a full range of complex open and minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery as well as complex cytoreductive procedures for ovarian cancer including upper abdominal work, bowel procedures, and HIPEC.

Along with her clinical practice, Dr. Ackroyd performs research centered on patient-focused outcomes, decision analysis, and early detection methods for ovarian cancer. Her publications include topics on treatment decision modeling, patient survivorship needs, and rare cancer database analysis.
