Additional Information
I completed my undergraduate medical education at Jefferson Medical College at the Thomas Jefferson University earning my Doctor in Medicine (M.D.) in 2003. That year, I began my general surgery residency training at the Cleveland Clinic that I completed in 2008. I obtained General Surgery board certification from the American Board of Surgery in 2009. With an interest in cancer and the surgical therapies for cancer patients, I went on to pursue advanced training in surgical oncology completing a Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) approved surgical oncology fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC)/Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital in 2010. Advanced surgical oncology fellowship training provided an enriched academic environment with clinical exposure to complex oncologic patients, as well as associated research and surgical educational experiences influencing my ongoing pursuit of an academic career path.
Upon completion of my fellowship in 2010, the opportunities and resources available at The OSUWMC/Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital led me to accept a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery in the division of surgical oncology that I held through May 2019.
Currently, I am an Associate Professor of surgery at the Stony Brook University Hospital in New York with focus on the clinical care of patients with gastrointestinal malignancies and related clinical/translational research. I continue to strive to deliver the highest quality cancer care to patients with gastrointestinal malignancies through research and innovation to advance our current care practices.
